Tapes of Gillian’s lectures have been floating around the internet since at least the early 2000s.
The recordings I have are part of an undergraduate (?) course called “Modern European Mind”, at presented at Sussex University, where Gillian started her academic career.
Altogether, the duration of the recordings is approximately 5 hours. The quality of these tapes vary. What I have, moreover, is an incomplete record of the lecture series.
The first, introductory lecture is entitled “The Frankfurt School”. She provides near the end of the lecture “the titles and dates and brief descriptions of the other lectures in the series”.
Lecture 1 “The Frankfurt School”
Here is part 1 (46:23)
And here is part 2 of the lecture (2:49)
Lecture 2 “Lukács: The Politics of Realism”
Here is part 1 (31:28)
Part 2 (15:41)
Lecture 3 “Bloch: The Greatness and Decline of Expressionism”
Here is part 1 (46:49)
Here is part 2 (01:53)
Lecture 4 on Benjamin
I’m afraid I don’t have this lecture.
Lecture 5 on Horkheimer & Adorno’s The Dialectic of Enlightenment
Here is part 2 (08:39)
Lecture 6 on Brecht
Lecture 7 on Adorno
Lecture 8 on Kafka & Mann
Alas, I do not have the recording.
